Two years in the making, Flower Pistil was brought to life by VAHY’s world-renowned master perfumer, after VAHY co-founders, Anna and Kate visited the Boboli gardens in Florence on a scentspiration adventure across Italy.

So, let’s find out about the journey to create this incredible new scent…

VAHY fans have been begging for a new, daring floral for some time. How do you go about taking on customer requests in the scent development process? 

Kate: Normally we like to do social polls and EDMs asking for what our beautiful community would like to see next from VAHY. However, for this scent we didn’t need to reach out - we had our customers constantly directly asking us for a sweet floral almost since the day we launched. Florals are really hard to make in 100% naturals without using synthetics so we took years to develop Flower Pistil. 

As we were working through the scent iterations perfecting it, we tested each round on anyone and everyone that we could get our hands on. The whole VAHY office was involved in this scent development process (along with a lot of our long suffering friends and family). We also did some community scent testing with unsuspecting members of the public from waiters, retail staff to people on the street.  

There is an incredible story behind Flower Pistil. Tell us about its inspiration.

VAHY’s master perfumer: The inspiration for Flower Pistil was a garden in Florence called the Boboli Garden. In particular, a small part of it, The Knight's Casino, located at the top of the small hill. This garden overlooks the ‘Pitti Palace’, the city of Florence and opens onto the Tuscan countryside.

To recreate this garden, I played with an accord around the Iris Florentina, Rose, Peony, and the freshness of the Lemon trees. In the background you can smell the Cypress of the great ‘Cypress Alley’ leading to this small garden.

Imagine the warmth of the spring sun, the air from the Tuscan hills and the beautiful flowers in the Italian gardens, and you have the complete picture. My inspiration brought to life, and the ‘Dolce Vita’ translated into a perfume.

Kate: Anna and I traveled to Florence a couple of years ago and were captivated by its beauty, vibrant markets, rich architecture, flowing gardens and cultural legacy. From discovering our all time favourite wine at Antinori to exploring the beautiful laneways and eating our weight in pasta, we knew instantly that Florence would be the inspiration for our next scent. 

Flower Pistil was two years in the making. Tell us about the process to create this floral beauty.

Anna: A sweet floral was one of our most requested scents, so we knew we had to wait until the scent was absolutely perfect before we launched it. 

It took our wonderful perfumer a number of iterations to formulate this stunning scent, but it was worth the hard work as the end result is unbelievable. 

To create Flower Pistil, we used only the most premium natural ingredients from across the globe, including beautiful florals sourced from Europe and organic Australian sandalwood. 

Additionally, Flower Pistil has a renewability rating of 100% and a biodegradable rating of 99%, making it a sustainability masterpiece. We used organic upcycled orange oil from the organic orange juice trade leading to a zero waste lifecycle, and vanilla that is 100% traceable (which is very rare) sourced from Madagascar and FairTrade certified.

Okay, let’s throw this one to the whole of team VAHY. What occasions would you wear Flower Pistil?

Kate: This is our most exciting launch yet - every time I wear it, it blows my mind that it’s 100% natural, the smell is so complex, so phenomenal. Flower Pistil without a doubt will be my new signature scent.

Nat: Honestly, I am obsessed with this scent. I’ll be drenching myself in it for every occasion! The bold floral notes tempered by sweet sugar and vanilla are seriously addictive.

Anna W: Flower Pistil is perfect for summer garden soirée! The beautiful floral notes are perfect for daytime, but the warm amber and sweet sugar notes carry you effortlessly into the evening too. I’ve been wearing a sample of this scent when I’ve been heading out and I get physically stopped to ask what fragrance I’m wearing.

Ruby: I am heading away this month and Flower Pistil will be the perfect sweet scent for my vacation. It’s bright, summery, light and super unique. I especially love the sugary notes.
